President Ramaphosa says minister of Finance Enoc wouldn't willy nilly raise VAT as he pleases that suggestion come after deep thought and looking for any other measures of securing sufficient ravanue to perform its duty.
"Right now, we've got limited revenue limits. Our revenue, as it stands, is not able to fund every priority, every ambition that we have,” said Ramaphosa he also admitted that he haven't met anyone who will be happy for the increase of VAT and assured public servants, teachers, nurses and SRD grands recipients that they will still get what's due to them.
ActionSA chief whip Athol Trollip challenged Ramaphosa on X and asked him when he is going to stop corruption.
“When is Mr President going to reduce the size of your cabinet? Fund SARS adequately that they can go after the R800 billion of unpaid taxes? When are you going to hold your cabinet members and senior officials accountable for maladministration? The sooner you do this the sooner you can balance your budget with raising taxes! We are watching you,” he said.
