The proposed budget by Enoch Godongwana early last month eventually come to be passed on 02 April 2025 which come to surprise as many parties after the proposed budget claimed they wouldn't vote for the budget due to the VAT increase amongst others.
ANC had a battle to convince other parties in GNU and outside to vote with them but the obsticle was only if the revoke the VAT and income tax. 194 voted in favor of the budget and 182 we against which was DA, EFF, MKP, FfPlus, UCDP, ATM and UAT and those who were in favor are ANC, ActionSA, Bosa, IFP, PAC, AL jamah, UDM, Good, RiseMzanzi and PA.
It is alleged that the is a voice note that was making rounds where Ramaphosa was addressing his caucus saying if the DA is voting against the budget that will be a clear indication that they can't be in GNU he futher said they cannot oppose the budget and be in the government.
Democratic alliance says they are prepared to be out of the GNU if it doesn't stand with what they stood for which is creating jobs and growth in economy said Mark Burke.
